I can't believe I'm typing a weekly update already!! This (short) week will focus on getting a lot of information out to you and students. Please take the time to review the material, fill it out, and send it back on Friday. I understand you will probably be receiving six of everything tomorrow, but the information and signature are incredibly important in getting class rolling. If you have any questions, please email or call me at any time.
7th Grade Language Arts (7LA):
Thursday - We will spend the first day of school handing out and discussing the syllabus, language arts handbook, parent survey, and setting up planners. I would like to have all forms returned the following day so I can get the information inputted over the weekend. The syllabus and parent survey are the first two grades to go into the grade book, so returning them is very important.
Friday - We will begin a series of activities designed to help me get to know my class and to help students get to know each other. Students will take surveys, play a couple games, have a quiz on the information in the syllabus, and have their first planner check. Planner checks will occur every Friday and I will look to make sure that they have filled in each day with the required work for Language Arts. Their other teachers will check for the remaining classes. Planners are worth 10 points per week - I expect that they are filled in thoroughly, neatly, and accurately and I expect that students who were absent make sure to get the information from the days they missed from either the whiteboard calender, their peers, or myself.
