Wow! This is a super short week AND the final few days of October... Scheduled conferences are THIS Thursday from 8am-4pm. Most slots are filled but if you need to schedule a conference with your child's teachers, please contact the office right away. There will not be time available for drop in or arena conferences this time around.
7th LA:
Monday - Wednesday: Last week we started pre-writing for our Character Sketch of Freak the Mighty. This week, students will complete their 4-Square (Monday) and complete a rough draft of their paper (Tuesday.) On Wednesday, students will meet with a partner to edit and revise their work. I highly encourage students to share their work with someone at home as well. Their homework over the long weekend will be to create their final draft. All final drafts must be hand-written, double spaced, in blue or black ink, and written only on one side of the paper. These final drafts will be due in class on Monday.
8th LA:
Monday - Wednesday: Students will be practicing the reading strategy of Finding Main Idea this week. We will do two packets in class and spend time discussing the use of a graphic organizer when identifying the theme of a selection. Students will have some homework each night, depending on how much of the packet they completed in class.
7th SS:
Monday - We will be reading pages 56-59 and answering questions 1-3 (all parts). Students must also fill out the 'My Social Studies Textbook Page' handout. This handout will be used to help them study for the chapter test.
Tuesday - Students will take a short quiz over Chapter 3, Section 1. We will preview Section 2 as a class and students will work on a packet covering some of the achievements of early Mesopotamians.
Wednesday - We will cover Section 2 today, reading pages 60-61 and 62-66 in our textbook and answering questions 1-3. Students will have a packet for homework over the long weekend covering the Sumerians. This packet is due on Monday.
