Welcome back!! I hope you all had a wonderful and restful holiday season and are ready to dive in to 2012. So far I've said the date incorrectly three times today and it's only 9am. This could take some getting used to... We are jumping right back in to our work in school so please watch for homework at home this week and be checking planners - I have a hunch many of my students are in a bit of shock coming back and might need a little bit of motivation to get them through the week.
7LA:
Tuesday - We will be working on recognizing cause and effect this week. Students have a packet today that we started in class but needs to be finished as homework. They have several short passages to read in a packet and multiple choice questions to answer. This packet is due tomorrow.
Wednesday - We will continue working on cause and effect and will start a new packet that we will work on for the next two days. We will preview the reading selection, work on vocabulary, and read the first section of the story today. Students may have vocab homework if they did not finish in class.
Thursday - We will continue our packet today and will finish the second half of the story as well as the comprehension quiz at the end. If time allows, we will correct in class.
Friday - Starting this week, we will be working on MSP testing skills each Friday to help students prepare for the State test in May. We will work with released test materials, discuss test taking strategies, and talk about test vocabulary while working on reading and writing selections. Today we will do a packet called 'Alice in Wonderland' as well as a vocabulary building packet.

7SS:
Tuesday - We will be working on Chapter 5: Ancient Kush this week. Today students will listen to pages 122-126 in class. They will have questions 1-3 (all parts) and a vocabulary worksheet to complete in class. Any work that does not get done in class is homework. There will be a vocabulary quiz tomorrow.
Wednesday - We will start off today with a vocab quiz over section 1. Today students will listen to pages 127-131 in class. They will have questions 1-3 (all parts) and a vocabulary worksheet to complete in class. Any work that does not get done in class is homework. There will be a vocabulary quiz tomorrow.
Thursday - Students will have a vocab quiz over section 2 today. We will do a review game in class to prepare for the chapter test tomorrow. Students will have the chapter review on page 133 to complete for homework (1-10, all parts)
